FDT (song)
[edit]... that rapper YG claimed his song "FDT" (standing for "Fuck Donald Trump") prompted calls from the US Secret Service, and two of its lines were partially blanked on the song's album release?'"FDT (Fuck Donald Trump)," ... resulted in calls from the Secret Service to his label, Def Jam. Ultimately, the lines ended up partially blanked out on the MC's critically acclaimed, political-leaning second album, Still Brazy.'

- Comment: I'm combing my old reviews to find ones that haven't been used as QPQs, but please double-check me QPQ has only been used once, for this nomination. Yoninah (talk) 21:00, 20 November 2016 (UTC)

- Comment: I'll stand by my earlier comment that a we don't need to explain the acronym in the hook and b it makes the hook more interesting (not less) to leave it out.
Also, the current caption on the pic is certainly funny but a no-go. — LlywelynII 04:06, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

- If you're talking about copyright, the base image is close to File:Donald Trump August 2015.jpg and File:Donald Trump (16512956580).jpg, so if we somehow uncover the exact base image the cover art is taken from on Commons, it means it's a derived image off it and acceptably meets our licensing requirements. I'll have a quick spin through Commons to see if I can find it, but don't let me stop the rest of you having a look! Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:43, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- He means the caption. But since there's a little FDT at the bottom of the image, I think it's appropriate to change the caption to
"Fuck Donald Trump"
(i.e. adding quote marks -- I've done that now in the caption above) as a gloss. The quote marks emphasize that it's a gloss -- not Wikipedia saying "Fuck Donald Trump", but rather the artist. Then we can drop the parenthetical(standing for "Fuck Donald Trump")
in the hook:ALT1 ... that rapper YG claimed his song "FDT" (cover art pictured) prompted calls from the US Secret Service, and two of its lines were partially blanked on the song's album release?Same sources as ALT0.

- Gloss? Yes she looks like she means business. But surely the caption would have to be

. It's not illustrating a procedure? Martinevans123 (talk) 13:30, 22 November 2016 (UTC)- I don't mean to brandish the clipboard around and wag my pencil at you, but teh rulez say an image on the main page has got to be unquestionably free licensed with no FUR. - In that case the gloss should go back in the hook. But first resolve the image issue for sure. EEng 14:14, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
- I have looked through Commons and cannot find any match, so you'll have to do without it, unless somebody creates a replica from a free image. You could run with File:Rapper YG 2015.jpg as a complete alternative. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 17:19, 22 November 2016 (UTC)

- I agree with LlywelynII that the caption is inappropriate for the main page. If the image isn't running at all, I think you should somehow connect FDT with Donald Trump so the hook won't look so vague. Like:
- ALT2:
... that the final track of "FDT", a protest song against the presidential candidacy of Donald Trump by rappers YG and Nipsey Hussle, has gaps where controversial lines were removed?
- ALT2:
- Yoninah (talk) 19:57, 23 November 2016 (UTC)
- Well, a song doesn't have tracks, and I don't think the meaning of the title should be hidden. I like "gaps", though.
- ALT3

- @EEng: re: "final track", I copied that from the article. Yoninah (talk) 00:08, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. In this context, "track" means "the song", it's not a thing of the song. I've modified the article [1]. EEng 01:08, 24 November 2016 (UTC)
- I guess the intended meaning was "final cut"/ "final edit", etc? Martinevans123 (talk) 12:28, 24 November 2016 (UTC)

- Again, the gloss shouldn't exist at all and it's hookier to omit it anyway. ALT3 reads like two separate hooks:

- Review New enough, long enough, Earwig is clear. No close paraphrasing or Copyvio. Picture is in copyright and cannot be used on the main page. QPQ confirmed. I concur with User:EEng: ALT4 is 'the money shot' and is shortest, hookiest and to the point, and neutral and supported by in line cited sources. The other hooks rely on the gaps, and it is essentially a guess (albeit an educated one) as to who made that decision and why. So I recommend approve ALT4; and move that the other hooks be struck. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 19:22, 7 January 2017 (UTC)
